Gratitude for Mom’s Care Leads to Everlasting Gift

Myrna Berger GoodmanMyrna Berger Goodman’s mother, Faye, lived to be 107½. She spent her last few years at Los Angeles Jewish Health (LAJH), formerly Los Angeles Jewish Home, where she made friends; visited with staff; enjoyed games, activities and exercise; and visiting the beauty shop.

“Mom always made the best of everything,” Myrna says. “Maybe that’s why she lived so long. She never had surgery. She drove until her early 90s. She also acclimated beautifully to Los Angeles Jewish Health when she got there.”

Myrna says the love was reciprocated. “The staff at Los Angeles Jewish Health took good care of my mom. They loved her and her kind, positive spirit. They were really very nice to her.”

Faye died a few years after arriving at Los Angeles Jewish Health, but Myrna’s gratitude for the care her mom received lives on today. After her mom passed away, Myrna used a charitable gift annuity (CGA) to make a gift to LAJH.

In addition to supporting excellence in senior care, the CGA provides Myrna with fixed, dependable income for life. It’s a win-win giving option for both giver and receiver.

“I went this gift-planning route,” Myrna says, “because it was a nicer way of earning money for myself and supporting Los Angeles Jewish Health. I also wanted other families to have the same quality of care as my mother.”
