Inge Sternberg Is a Legend

Inge Sternberg is quite a legend among the members of the Benefactors/Jewish Club of 1933, the second oldest LAJH support group. And now, with the creation of 11 charitable gift annuities, 86-year-old Inge has become a legend at LAJH.

Born in Berlin, Inge's family moved to Amsterdam when she was in her teens. In 1939 they came to the United States, landing in New York and driving across the country to Los Angeles. She eventually worked for Bank of America, and left the company in 1964, when she married Oscar Sternberg, a real estate broker. She joined her husband in the real estate business until shortly before he passed away in 1986.

Inge's parents joined the Benefactors/Jewish Club of 1933 upon their arrival in Los Angeles, and Inge's stepmother spent the last 20 years of her life as a resident of the Home, passing away at the age of 100. Inge has been a member of the Benefactors' Board of Directors for over a decade, consistently securing gifts and new members for the group.

Through her estate, Inge has continually made gifts to the Home. She has established eleven gift annuities with the Home, noting that "in these uncertain times, a gift annuity is a wonderful investment. The return is excellent and the benefits are great!" Her banking experience has given her a solid understanding of the gift annuity and great confidence in it as a secure investment. In addition, Inge has also included the Home through a bequest in her will. These wonderful gifts have placed Inge in LAJH's Legacy Circle, a society for those who have included the organization in their estate plans. All of our residents are very grateful that Inge Sternberg has chosen to leave such a legacy with LAJH.
